I went to a wine tasting and these women told me, ‘Wow, you look really nice.’ This man – which stood out because men don’t typically compliment other men – said, ‘Yeah, he’s always dressing to impress and he just looks great, man.’
It took me back because it was a group of people saying that. It makes me feel comfortable.
When you’re in your colors, more of you comes out. Not only does more of me come out, but other people see it more. It’s almost like we don’t realize it, but the colors help us.

People have noticed me and talked to me and whatnot, but when I walked in with those new clothes, people complimented me on my outfits and how I looked. The overall experience of that was kind of cool.
They made me feel more comfortable in my own skin. I used to stand in the background and not want to be noticed or heard.
Putting on my colors and being the person that was actually being talked to, seen, heard, and them actually looking at me and addressing me kind of made me feel good.
